Okay I have lived in downtown Lees Summit for over a year and was unaware of this gem.
This is definitely a great new spot for me and i highly recommend.
The menu has depth with multiple options for appetite and budget.
You can tell the cook and staff care about their product it comes through on the taste. They are not just slapping it together they really are cooking it!
I love Neighborhood cafe! The service is always fantastic. The food is usually on the upper side of average with some standouts (pumpkin pancakes are my fave so far). I like that we never have to wait long to be seated, and the cinnamon rolls are a great free perk - however, the last two times we've had them they have been cold and almost stale. Much better when they are warm. I think it's a good value for the money because the portions are generous, and the restaurant is always clean and welcoming.
Neighborhood cafe has a special place in my heart. The location near research hospital was a family "get away" when my grandpa was dying in August. We would meet their for dinner and after a long day the meatloaf or delish breakfast was just what we all needed. It was comfort food at it's best. Recently took my kids and boyfriend to the location in Lee's summit... Huge difference. The older lady who was our waitress seemed checked out. She rushed us to order and then didn't check on us. To say I was disappointed is a understatement. I'd skip out on the Lee's summit one. But.. LOVE the cinnamon rolls ( can't beat them) the meatloaf skillet is my fav! Pancakes are some of the best I've had in a long time.
The staff is super attentive and very kind. You feel like eating with family! The food is really good and the restaurant is family friendly. It's the only place I've seen a server cleaning the high chair for my baby daugther!
Fantastic! The complimentary cinnamon rolls started the meal off on a high note and when the food arrived we stayed excited. Biscuits and sausage gravy that were so peppery I didn't need to add my own pepper, a beautiful rarity. Chicken and waffles that is absolutely too big for one person, giant chicken breasts pounded flat and breaded. Outstanding service. This is a mandatory visit at any time of the day!
